Movie Review

Across the Universe
"I'll write home everyday and I'll send all my loving to you...Love is all you need." This famous Beetle's song is just one of the many included in the movie. Across the Universe stars Jim Sturgess as Jude and Joe Anderson as Maxwell. The screenplay for the 1960 movie was written by Julie Taymor. The musical follows through WW2 when Max who wants nothing to do with school, brings Jude home for Thanksgiving, where he falls in love-at-first-sight with Lucy, Jude and Max move to New York and moves in with Sadie where Fame threatens to rip Jojo and Sadie apart. Overall this movie/musical touches on all key events while also reflecting evetns in the Beatles career.

The music is fantantic, it's reworked version's of all those familair Beatle's songs sung quite wonderfully by the cast. A stunning sequence to civil rights pulls at the heart strings no doubt with a gospel version "Let It Be" that would make Ray Charles proud. "I Want You", takes you on a nightmarish, surreal trip from draft papers to the fields of Vietnam ending with action figure soldiers. "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" is a song about affection sung by Prudence making her slow motion through football players.

Just as good as the music was the actor's characters were remarkable. New York Times states,"Julie Taymor used her great imagination and made the movie 2 stories that was personal and one geneational."(2009) "Julie Taymor's adventure in Beatle land is a huge success, riping the songs that defined a generation." (2007) "Sturgess keeps the film grounded with a rumpled earthly charm and Wood brings much-needed emotional depth."(2008)

This true musical is perfect for those who just wanna sing along and enjoy good music, possibly even birng back memories. Their amazing body of work mostly depends on Vietnam, race riots, and flower power. Julie Taymor did and excellant display of art and history. The music is redone in a way that's original and shows the characters different talents. It's a movie I could watch over and over again.

"Portfolio"

It's important to put others before your self because it not only makes you feel good, but it can truly change someone's life. People want to be comforted when facing hard times. I mean think of a time when someone was there for you in a time of need.
Those who put others before themselve will be rewarded with greater things in life and will have the ability to influence others where-ever they go. The more you do for others, and less things for yourself, the happier you will feel. You will be in a greater mood and less stressed. It also can help you to the right path, in life.
It's never to late to go out and help others. Even the smallest thing can mean so much, like helping your teacher pass back papers instead of just sitting there talking with your friends. Helping your best friend with their relationship problems, or just listening can mean that your putting others first. Also, you can open the door for an old lady or help somebody with their groceries. Yea, it's a nice feeling when someone appreciates you, but it feels 100 times better when you are helping someone in the process.
Even though sometimes it's tough to not be selfish, you just have to try your hardest. Whether you know it or not your kindness can make someone's day who probably feels like nobody cares. Those who put others before themselves are the people with the biggest hearts, who truly care,
